A fellow at the Shalom Hartman Institute, Bill Berk is Director of Shalom Hartman Institute's Center for Rabbinic Enrichment and a member of the Institute's faculty. Winner of the Covenant Award in 2003 for his work in adult education, Bill served as the rabbi of Temple Chai in Phoenix for 23 years and directed its growth from 80 to 1,100 families.
Bill was also instrumental in the founding of Temple Chai's Shalom Center, a resource center that provides people with educational programs, support groups and spiritual development.
He is a past president of the Board of Rabbis of Greater Phoenix and has been active in the movement for synagogue involvement for Jews with special needs. Bill holds degrees from the University of California and Hebrew Union College.
