Tribute to My Rabbi
Dear Donniel, Devorah, Tova and Rana`an, Please accept my heartfelt condolence on the death of your father. He was a giant among midgets and his memory fortifies me every day and helps me in my own commitment to what he gave me as a teacher and mentor. Please convey my condolences to your mother Bobbie whom I remember with great fondness.

Condolences
I had the privilege to meet and listen to Rabbi Professor David Hartman in the Institute when we visited from Rome. He was an extraordinary man endowed with wisdom and great intellect. Humanity as a whole will miss this brige builder and a philanthropist. My kind condolences to the immediate family and all the staff of the Institute. May God grant him a peaceful rest in his kingdom, and for the family, my assurances of prayers and closeness during this period of mourning.

The passing of Rabbi David Hartman
I feel privileged to have gotten to know Rabbi David Hartman as I did through my work for the Shalom Hartman Institute from 1998-2004 and to have been a part, however small, of the ground-breaking and wonderful work he did in Israel, the U.S. and throughout the Jewish and interfaith communities worldwide. His work and that of the Institute made such an incredible impact on so many lives and on the very fabric of Israeli society and I know he will be so very sorely missed by the thousands of people whose lives he touched and changed for the better. David Hartman was a true tzadik in his time. May his memory be a blessing always.

My heartfelt condoleances to the family of David Hartman and to the staff of the Hartman Institute in Jerusalem. May David Heartman rest in peace and continue to live through the legacy he leaves behind, i.e, seeking to build bridges between divided communities. This cannot and will never die! Cyrille Uwizeye

Rabbi David Hartman ז״ל
We have been חסידים of Rabbi Hartman since we, a small group of parents, under the Rabbi`s leadership, founded The Akiva School. The idea of an inclusive pluralistic school was an exciting new idea for a Jewish Day School in Montreal. In fact, our son Sandy, the Rabbi`s daughter Adina and 12 other grade one children, half of whom were under age, formed the first class in 1978. Some of us liked the idea that children would only learn to read when they were ready; others thought that an extended French program was the way to go in Quebec. All of us wanted a "good" Jewish education. Today The Akiva School has a double stream of classes and there is a waiting list. We mourn Rabbi Hartman` s passing together with his family and all Israel. Gita Kizell Pearl and Dr. Gerald Pearl

The passing of David Hartman
In my association with the Hartman Institute over the past 10 years I have had the opportunity to hear David speak on many occasions, only to be inspired by his extraordinary wisdom and dedication to interreligious harmony. On behalf of all the students of the Angelicum university in Rome I want to express to his family and to the professors and staff of the Hartman Institute our deepest sympathy and prayerful support at this time of mourning.
