When it comes to engaging meaningfully with Israel, it can be challenging to be a student on a college campus today. Students are often forced into a defensive posture about an Israel identity that is not yet fully formed. The iEngage Student Seminar is an immersive program for college students built around the cutting-edge content of the Shalom Hartman Institute iEngage curriculum.
Students participate in classes on their home campuses taught by Hillel professionals and Hartman faculty, both in the fall and spring. The core experience of the iEngage Student Seminar program is a weeklong winter seminar in Jerusalem, which provides an opportunity for students to engage more deeply and substantively with Israel.
With a mix of learning sessions and guest speakers in the Hartman Beit Midrash, cultural events, and day trips around around Jerusalem, the winter seminar creates an opportunity for students from partner campuses across the country who have been studying similar material on their campuses to come together for a significant social and academic experience, building a strong culture of engagement for the next generation.
More than 150 students from ten campuses will join together for a week of study in Jerusalem in 2016. Schools are invited to participate by the Shalom Hartman Institute during the spring semester, in preparation for the following academic year.
