The pressing issue of Peoplehood is the central topic of our fifth iEngage video course dealing with the significance of Israel for Jewish life.
'Together & Apart: The Future of Jewish Peoplehood' explores how we tell stories of Jewish belonging. It addresses the difficulties of understanding “Peoplehood” in an era when we have moved from a reality of no home, to a reality of two homes: an established nation-state for the Jews and a diaspora that includes the diverse and powerful North American community.

Today we face new challenges to our unity including nationalism, antisemitism, dual loyalty, and identity politics. Over 14 units – with video lectures and interviews, textual sources and a leader’s guide – we consider what it means to be a member of the Jewish people, the core values that animate Jewish peoplehood, and the contemporary challenges to Jewish unity.
The course moves through complex features of Jewish peoplehood inherent both in our tradition and in our history to imagine new conceptual frameworks that can help sustain and grow a vibrant story of Jewish peoplehood.
