‘Herzl Said’ – evening marking publication of new Institute books – set

Two new books about Theodore Herzl from Shalom Hartman Institute will be discussed and presented in dramatic readings at an evening event in Jerusalem commemorating Herzl Day, a newly established commemorative date on the Israeli calendar. Israeli actor Esti Zakheim will give dramatic readings from two new Shalom Hartman Institute books about Theodor Herzl, June 24, 2008, at Beit Avi Chai, Jerusalem

 and Prof. David Ohana and will be chaired by Dr. Moshe Gulchin. The academic discussion will be punctuated by dramatic readings by the actress Esti Zackheim.

The event is part of the Herzl day events, and marks the publication of the Hartman Institute’s new two-volume series, Herzl Then and Now: An Ancient Jew, a New Man and The Jewish State in the Jewish State: Herzl’s World in Contemporary Herzl Then and Now: An Ancient Jew, a New Man, book from Shalom Hartman Institute, Jerusalem, Israel. The two books are part of the Institute’s Yahadut Yisraelit series (Israel and Judaism) and were co-edited by Institute Senior Fellow Prof. Avi Sagi and Yedidya Stern.
The event is co-sponsored by the Herzl Museum, the Herzl Center for Studies in Zionism and the Institute. It will be conducted in Hebrew, and admission is free. Click here for more information.
