The Shalom Hartman Institute is pleased to announce that effective last fall, Rachel Jacoby Rosenfield assumed the role of Executive Vice President of Shalom Hartman Institute of North America. Rachel joined the Hartman Institute in June 2015 as National Director of the iEngage Project .

Meanwhile, the organization’s rapid growth necessitated a redesign of SHI-NA’s staffing structure and Rachel was promoted to the role of Executive Vice President. In her new position, Rachel will share in the leadership of the overall North America entity and in shaping the direction and growth of Hartman programs, its fundraising functions, and the Institute’s national presence.

Prior to joining SHI North America, Rachel served as Director of Experiential Education at American Jewish World Service where she led a national educational agenda with a comparable scope to that of SHI North America.

Rachel has done graduate level study in Jewish literature, which gives her a deep appreciation for the intellectual rigor of the Institute.

“I am excited about this opportunity to lead the Shalom Hartman Institute of North America in its next phase of growth,” Rachel said. “The issues of Jewish peoplehood, pluralism, Israel and interfaith relations speak to me at my core and I am thrilled to work with my talented colleagues and thoughtful community partners to deepen and expand our work.”

"I am thrilled and gratified that the growth of SHI North America in the six years since its inception has precipitated the need for our strategic redesign,” said Yehuda Kurtzer , President of Shalom Hartman Institute North America, “and especially that we are able to bring Rachel on board as a senior leader and partner to me in taking this organization to the next level. Rachel brings a deep personal and professional understanding of the value proposition of SHI combined with an exemplary skill set of professionalism and creative leadership, enabling us to continue to deepen our impact and improve on our work for years to come."
