New SHI-NA program listed in latest guide of leading Jewish innovations. Third mention for Hartman in six years

For the third time in six years, the Shalom Hartman Institute of North America has been named one of North America’s top innovative Jewish organizations in the annual Slingshot Guide, a go-to resource for volunteers, activists and donors looking for new opportunities and projects that ensure the Jewish community remains relevant and thriving.

The Slingshot Guide recognized SHI North America’s research and educational project, Created Equal: Men, Women and the Ethics of Shared Leadership, for “working to understand how gender influences the broader narrative of Jewish life and seeking to transform the way the Jewish community operates around these issues."

Organizations included in this year’s guide, selected from among hundreds of finalists, were evaluated on their innovative approach as well as impact of their work, leadership in their sector, and effectiveness at achieving results.

“We are incredibly proud to be selected once again for the Guide, especially because our previous listings were for entirely different projects: first for our unique program delivery approach, and subsequently for the iEngage Project ," said Yehuda Kurtzer, President of Shalom Hartman Institute of North America.

"It is gratifying to see recognition of Created Equal , which seeks to seed, inform, and transform the discourse on ethics and equity in Jewish organizational life, and we are honored to be part of the community of innovative organizations who continue to create positive change in the Jewish community,” Kurtzer said.

Stefanie Rhodes, Executive Director of Slingshot, said that Slingshot’s work is to help Jews find, fund and connect to meaningful, exciting experiences in Jewish life.

"Whether we look to the guide for funding ideas, best practices or trends in Jewish life, it remains a resource that provides tremendous hope for our collective future," she said. "Limiting our selection to 50 organizations made this year more competitive than ever, resulting in an extraordinary snapshot of the field.”

About the Slingshot Guide

The Slingshot Guide, now in its eleventh year, was created by a team of young funders as a guidebook to help funders of all ages diversify their giving portfolios to include the most innovative and effective organizations, programs and projects in North America.

The Guide has proven to be a catalyst for next generation funding and offers a telling view of shifting trends in North America’s Jewish community – and how nonprofits are meeting new needs and reaching new audiences. It is a frequently used resource for donors seeking to support organizations transforming the world in novel and interesting ways.
