Shalom Hartman Institute mourns the sudden passing of Rabbi Ron Aigen of Montreal, an Institute Senior Rabbinic Fellow who was a participant in the third Rabbinic Leadership Initiative .

Rabbi Aigen had recently retired from Dorshei Emet Congregation in Hampstead, PQ.

Synagogue President Eada Rubinger said: "Together with Carmela, our cherished Rabbi Ron provided our community with leadership, inspiration and insight for over forty years – a remarkable journey we were all so eagerly looking forward to celebrating in June. His dedication to exploring and developing Jewish civilization in all its many facets leaves an enduring legacy. We were so immensely privileged to benefit from his warmth and wisdom."

“Rabbi Ron Aigen z”l was a thoughtful, caring and committed member of the Hartman rabbinic community,” said Rabbi Lauren Berkun , Shalom Hartman Institute Director of Rabbinic and Synagogue Programs.

“Rabbi Aigen embodied the values of the Shalom Hartman Institute. He lived and taught an aspirational Judaism, and he will be sorely missed by his colleagues and the faculty and staff of SHI.”

May his memory be for a blessing.
