Busy Elul at Charles E. Smith High School

highlights for the coming month include: an opening ceremony for the new year, a lecture by Nobel Prize laureate Prof. Yisrael Aumann, a parent-pupil learning evening and a lecture on the topic of repentance

After an intensive few weeks of preparation, the school year opened at both Hartman Institute schools – the Charles E. Smith High School for Boys and Midrashiya for girls.

As the opening of the school year coincided with rosh hodesh (the new month) of Elul, much of the focus in the boys’ school is dedicated to preparation for the upcoming High Holidays, while preserving the routine study schedule of the school.

Some of the highlights for the coming month include: an opening ceremony for the new year, a lecture by Nobel Prize laureate Prof. Yisrael Aumann , a parent-pupil learning evening and a lecture on the topic of repentance.

In addition, several half- and full-day seminars will be conducted for the various grades: for tenth graders on the topic of prayer, for twelfth graders as a preparation for the annual student trip to Poland, for eleventh graders in Safed, and for remembering Lt. Col. Emmanuel Moreno, a Hartman graduate who fell in battle during the second Lebanon War.
