A free two-day conference, October 6-7, will examine the work of Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel (1907-1972). Heschel, author of Man in Search of God and Torah Min Hashamyim, is considered on of the leading theologians of the 20th century.

The conference is titled: "A Radical Image of Religious Life: A Day on the Thought of Abraham Joshua Heschel."

The closing session – October 7 at 20:00 (8 pm) – will feature Rabbi Prof. David Hartman , discussing, in English, "Keva and Kavana in Prayer – Comparative Study in Heschel, Soloveitchik and Leibowitz."

October 7 is structured with five back-to-back beit midrash sessions, each focusing on a different aspect of Heschel’s work. Two parallel discussions are offered in each session, providing participants with choice. 

For example, from 13:30-15:00, participants can choose between the one session of the day conducted in English by Hartman Institute’s Dr. Alick Isaacs on "Pathos, Prophecy and Politics" or the parallel session in Hebrew, led by Dror Bondi of Bar-Ilan University and Beit Morasha, focusing on: "Is God is alive or dead? Heschel’s philosophy as a revolution in God’s life."
