SHI North America Receives Jim Joseph Foundation Grant

Shalom Hartman Institute of North America is thrilled to be one of 11 organizations selected to receive a grant from the Jim Joseph Foundation , part of a $23.7 million investment to address the critical need for leadership development in Jewish education.

This grant will support the Institute’s David Hartman Center Fellows Program , an incubator of emerging talent for the next generation of thought-leaders in the American Jewish community supporting advanced doctoral, post-doctoral, and rabbinic students.

The first cohort of David Hartman Center Fellows includes outstanding scholars such as Dr. Zohar Atkins , Shira Billet , David Zvi Kalman , Sara Labaton , Dr. Zalman Rothschild , and Sarah Wolf .

“We are honored to partner with Jim Joseph Foundation to help build the future of Jewish thought leadership in North America,” said Yehuda Kurtzer , President of Shalom Hartman Institute of North America. “During their fellowship, David Hartman Center Fellows will work together to grow as scholars, to contribute to the scholarship of the Institute, to apply their ongoing academic research to issues of contemporary importance, and to gain a deeper understanding of the evolving North American Jewish communal landscape.”
