The Shalom Hartman Institute Boys High School this past week conducted its fourth annual Rosh Hashana food distribution program to families throughout Jerusalem.

The program, funded by Chabad and the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, and operated and managed by the high school, distributed 1,050 boxes of food to 350 families. Each family received three boxes of food.

The program operates throughout the year, as well, with distribution to 200 families a month.

Some of the families come themselves. The students, with the help of their parents, distribute packages around Jerusalem to families that cannot make it to the school. They families are located with the help of the city social services agency. The recipients have expressed their appreciation for the sensitivity of the children, who treat them with great respect.

Here are comments from some of the students:

Ze’ev: "It’s fun to help people. If someone is in need and you can help them, then you should."

Shoham: "We do it because it is important that people have food for the Holidays."

Yair: "It’s important to help people. We do it with all our hearts."
