Scholars Circle to conduct first Winter Conference

The Hartman Institute North American Scholars Circle is conducting its first annual Winter Conference the first week of January 2010, and a highlight is a special presentation by scholar and author Michael Walzer, titled, ‘The Anomalies of Jewish Identity.’
Rabbi Dr. Rachel Sabath Beit-Halachmi s a Jewish institutional leader, author, and sought-after public speaker. Currently, Rachel serves Ohavay Zion Synagogue and is a senior scholar of the Kaplan Center for Jewish Peoplehood. Most recently she served as Assistant Professor of Jewish Thought and Ethics at Hebrew Union College (HUC) and led a four-campus team to achieve strategic goals. Prior to her national role at HUC, Rachel served as Vice President of the Shalom Hartman

 

The Hartman Institute North American Scholars Circle is conducting its first annual Winter Conference the first week of January 2010, and a highlight is a special presentation by scholar and author Michael Walzer, titled, "The Anomalies of Jewish Identity."
 
Walzer is Permanent Faculty Member, Emeritus of the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton University, and editor of The Jewish Political Tradition, a four-volume series in English done in collaboration with Hartman Institute scholars. A Hebrew translation was published by Shalom Hartman Institute.
 
The Scholars Circle also was celebrated at a reception during the recent annual conference of the American Jewish Studies Association in Los Angeles.
