The Shalom Hartman Institute congratulates long-time Board of Directors member Alvin Segal , O.C., O.Q. on his appointment to anOfficer of the Order of Quebec.   

Having also studied at the Hartman Institute for more than 30 years as a regular participant in the Institute’s Community Leadership Summer Retreat, Mr. Segal has been instrumental in the Institute’s successful growth, and its transformation into what it is today – pysically and spiritually. Mr. Segal has notably contributed the Alvin C. Segal Library and the Segal Beit Midrash Building at the Institute.

From the press announcement released by the Segal Centre for Performing Arts :

On May 27, 2011, Mr. Jean Charest, Quebec Prime Minister announced the appointment of 33 individuals to the National Order of Quebec. Created in 1984 by the Quebec Parliament under the law of the Order of Quebec, this honor is the highest in the Quebec system, recognizing individuals who have made a powerful impact on Quebec by encouraging its growth and development in one or more sectors of Quebecois industry.
