The Shalom Hartman Institute of North America recently hosted community leaders from across North America for four days of intensive learning on the topic of "Jewish Ethics, Jewish Power" in beautiful Sun Valley, Idaho. Participants joined Hartman Institute faculty members Rabbi Dr. Donniel Hartman, President of Shalom Hartman Institute, Dr. Yehuda Kurtzer, President of Shalom Hartman Institute of North America, and Dr. Melila Hellner-Eshed, Senior Research Fellow, in unpacking ideas relating to this topic.
 
In addition to the extraordinary learning, participants enjoyed the spectacular natural wonders of the area (such as the Wood River Hot Springs), the opening night of the world-famous Sun Valley Symphony; and dinner in a private home with a special presentation given by former US Ambassador to Egypt and to Israel, Daniel Kurtzer. During the program, which ran from July 31-August 3, the group was joined by more than 100 members of the Wood River Jewish Community for the inaugural Wood River Jewish Community Bronfman Scholar Lecture given by Rabbi Dr. Donniel Hartman.

In the words of Sharon Unglerleider who traveled to Sun Valley from Springfield, Oregon:  “…What an exciting mountain adventure into contemporary Jewish life. Great leaders came to Sun Valley to study, hike, bike, explore mysticism and Torah, and hear key insights into Israel/Middle East relations from Ambassador Kurtzer. The air was rare, conversations were profound, and new friendships were formed!”
